The original Tempo

This Interpretation follows the original tempoadvice: 1/4 = 54 bpm as guideline and mostly the upper limit of the realised Tempo, following at the same time aswell notated tempochanges as tempochanges as part of the interpretation without leaving the overall guideline of the demanded tempo anywhere completly. This seemingly implicitness is noteworthy, since from 35 other inspect Interpretations only two are sligthly faster than demanded (Rosbaud 1937 und Eugen Ormandy 1973) the otther are more or less slower than the demanded Tempo. In Average the Interpretations are one Minute longer. That makes a Tempo  1/4 = 44 bpm which is 20% slower than demanded in the score.

Specialty of the Instrumentation

As demanded by Ravel this recording uses not the sound of modern Horn with Valves but two natural horn in G.
